How to make a cleaning checklist with this generator

    1. Pick the type of cleaning. Standard, deep, move-in / move-out, post-construction, office or Airbnb turnover. Each loads a ready-made list of areas and tasks written for that job.
    2. Match it to the home. Switch areas on or off, set how many bathrooms and bedrooms there are, and add your own areas — a basement, a sunroom, a garage. One checkbox is printed per room, so a 3-bedroom home gets three boxes next to each bedroom task.
    3. Edit the tasks. Rename, delete or reorder them with the arrow buttons (or Alt + ↑ / ↓ on a keyboard), add your own, and mark extras like inside the oven or fridge as add-ons. Untick Include add-on tasks for clients who didn't order them.
    4. Fill in the header. Your company name and logo, the client, address, date, cleaner and time window, frequency and notes for the crew. Leave fields empty to print blank lines your team fills in on site.
    5. Choose the layout and print. One or two columns, Letter or A4, optional “Done” and “Initials” columns and signature lines. Download a PDF or print straight from the browser.
Save the checklist as your template on this device and the next one starts exactly where you left off — your areas, tasks, logo and layout.

Deep cleaning vs standard cleaning: what's the difference?

A standard clean keeps a home that's already in good shape clean: surfaces, bathrooms, kitchen and floors. A deep clean covers the same rooms but adds the detail work that builds up over months — baseboards, ceiling fans, grout, cabinet doors, light switches, behind and under things. Most cleaning companies start new clients with a deep clean and then switch to standard recurring visits.

How long does a house cleaning take?

Time on site depends on the size and condition of the home, the type of clean and the size of the crew. These are typical ranges for a crew of two in the US and Canada — check your own job history for the real numbers.

    Type of cleaning2 bed / 1 bath3 bed / 2 bath4 bed / 3 bath
    Standard (recurring)often 1–1.5 hoften 1.5–2.5 hoften 2.5–3.5 h
    Deep cleaningoften 2–3 hoften 3–5 hoften 5–7 h
    Move-in / move-out (empty)often 2.5–3.5 hoften 3.5–5 hoften 5–8 h
Post-constructionvaries widely — often 1.5–3× a deep clean, plus a second dusting visit

Times are hours on site for the whole crew; multiply by the number of cleaners for labor hours. An Airbnb turnover for a one-bedroom unit often takes 1–2 hours for one cleaner, plus laundry. Office cleaning is usually priced per visit or per square foot rather than by the hour.

Tips for cleaning teams using checklists

    1. Work top to bottom, left to rightDust falls down. Start with ceiling fans and high shelves, finish with floors, and move around each room in one direction so nothing gets missed.
    2. Keep the list in room orderArrange areas in the order your crew actually walks through the home. A checklist that matches the route is a checklist people really use.
    3. Separate add-ons clearlyMarking inside-the-oven or inside-the-fridge as add-ons avoids doing paid extras for free — and avoids clients expecting them on every visit.
    4. Use initials when crews split roomsWhen two cleaners divide the home, initials next to each task show who did what. It makes quality checks and coaching fair and easy.
    5. End with a walkthroughA final check against the list catches the forgotten mirror or the trash bag by the door — the things clients notice first.
    6. Photograph the resultBefore and after photos protect you in disputes, help train new cleaners and make great marketing material.

Is this checklist generator safe to use?

Yes. It runs entirely in your browser:

    • No uploads. Your checklist, client details and logo never leave your device. The page's security policy blocks scripts from sending data anywhere.
    • No account, no tracking. No analytics, ads or third-party scripts, and no cookies.
    • Safe logo handling. Only real PNG, JPG and WebP images are accepted — the file contents are checked, not just the name. SVG files are not accepted, and every logo is redrawn and resized, which strips hidden metadata.
    • Saving is your choice. Your template is only kept if you turn on saving, and only in this browser. Clear saved data removes it instantly.

    Cleaning checklist FAQ

Common questions about cleaning checklists and this free generator.

Is this cleaning checklist generator free?

Yes. You can create, download and print as many checklists as you like. There is no sign-up, no watermark and no trial.

What should a house cleaning checklist include?

List every area of the home — kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms, living areas, entry and hallways, plus laundry, office or exterior if you clean them — with the specific tasks for each: dusting, wiping surfaces, disinfecting toilets and sinks, mirrors, trash and floors. Add the client, address, date, cleaner and notes at the top, and mark extras like inside the oven or fridge as add-ons.

What is included in a deep cleaning checklist?

Everything in a standard clean plus detail work: baseboards, doors and frames by hand, ceiling fans and light fixtures, vents, blinds and window sills, grout and hard-water stains, cabinet doors, light switches, and vacuuming under furniture. Inside the fridge, oven and cabinets are often offered as add-ons.

What should a move-out cleaning checklist cover?

Inside everything: all cabinets and drawers, closets, the fridge and freezer, oven, dishwasher and microwave, plus baseboards, window tracks, light switches, scuffs on walls and every floor. Finish with photos of each room for the landlord or owner.

Can I make a printable cleaning checklist for my team?

Yes. Choose one or two columns and Letter or A4, turn on checkboxes, “Done” and “Initials” columns and signature lines, then print or download a PDF. Empty header fields print as blank lines, so you can make a reusable blank form for your crews.

Can I add my own rooms and tasks?

Yes. Add any area — a basement, sunroom, garage or gym — and as many tasks as you need. You can rename, delete and reorder areas and tasks with the arrow buttons or Alt + arrow keys, and set how many of each room the home has.

Is my checklist uploaded or stored anywhere?

No. Everything, including the PDF, is created in your browser, and the page's security policy blocks it from sending data to any server. Nothing is saved unless you turn on saving, and then only in this browser — Clear saved data removes it.

How do cleaning companies use checklists with clients?

Many share the checklist before the first visit so the client knows exactly what's included, then use it on site to make sure nothing is skipped. With a CRM like DailyCRM you can attach checklists and before and after photos to every job, so the crew and the client see the same list.
